Nepal Flash Floods Situation Report No. 1

This Situation Report provides the latest updates on the devastating flash floods in Nepal, including the impact on affected communities, emerging humanitarian needs, and Corus International and Lutheran World Relief’s response efforts.

The flooding has caused widespread destruction across several districts, damaging homes, roads, bridges and other critical infrastructure, and leaving thousands of households in need of assistance. As search and rescue operations continue, humanitarian priorities include emergency shelter, safe drinking water, food assistance, emergency supplies, medical care, protection and mental health services, and restoring access to isolated communities.

In Nepal Corus operates as Lutheran World Relief. LWR is coordinating with local partners, government stakeholders and humanitarian actors to assess the evolving situation, understand access constraints and identify priority response needs. LWR brings more than 15 years of experience working in Nepal, including current programs in Chitwan and Nawalparasi and disaster response experience in Nuwakot and Rasuwa following the 2015 earthquake.
