    Stop the spread of coronavirus

Your gift will help save lives.

Your love is needed now, more than ever

Coronavirus is expected to spread at a catastrophic rate across the developing world. Health systems are not prepared to take on an outbreak. Health workers are vulnerable to infection as they work to treat others. And families, who already suffer with poor health, poverty and hunger, are at extreme risk.

We can help the world’s most vulnerable families stay safe — but only with your support. Families are counting on you.

A Message from President and CEO Daniel Speckhard

Together, we will help each other, with hearts full of love and compassion.

Your love reaches the people most in need.

Here’s how.

Our poorest neighbors are most at risk. Your gift gets them clean water to drink and wash their hands — a first defense against COVID-19. You are delivering emergency food packs to families living where market shelves are empty. And you are equipping health workers with the protective gear they need to stay healthy and getting health networks accurate, up-to-the-minute information about COVID-19 and what to do to stay safe.

African countries are going to be hit very hard by COVID-19. Health care workers all over Africa will be identifying and treating cases of COVID-19 with no gloves, no masks, no training, and no medical equipment.

How are you able to continue working in this pandemic?

Our staff in the U.S. are working from home at this time and are encouraged to follow recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control regarding prevention and treatment, if needed. In our mission field, we are working directly with Christian Health Associations and other local partners who provide health care in impoverished communities. We are also adjusting our programs in other ways to make sure everyone we come into contact with stays safe.

What will my donation do?

Your donation will help our neighbors around the world who are most vulnerable to coronavirus to prepare and respond to this pandemic. We work with a range of partners in developing countries to help impoverished communities prepare for coronavirus and prevent its spread.

I have clothes/shoes/other items to donate. Can I send them to you?

We deeply appreciate your giving heart. However, these items are not useful at this time. We do suggest donating to a local thrift store (e.g. Goodwill), as members of your community may have growing needs as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. Additionally, we ask that you please pray for all those affected by this disease, and especially for health workers.

How can I be sure my donation will really make a difference?

We enjoy long-standing relationships with the communities we serve and have come to be known as a trusted partner. That trust is the basis of our response and how we’re able to be effective.

I normally give to LWR through my church. What should I do?

Thank you so much for caring enough to ask. We have other options for giving. Please click here to give online by credit card. You can also give by mail in 3 easy steps:

  1. Download and print our donation form.
  2. Fill out the donation form and your check.
  3. Mail both items to Lutheran World Relief PO Box 17061 Baltimore, MD 21297-1061

If you have questions or would like to donate by phone, please call 800.597.5972, and our staff would be happy to help.
