Donations now being accepted to help families affected by catastrophic flooding
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WASHINGTON, D.C., July 17, 2026 — Lutheran World Relief is mobilizing an emergency response to help families affected by catastrophic flooding across Texas. As communities continue to face dangerous flood conditions, the organization is accepting donations to provide urgently needed assistance to families affected by the disaster.
Financial gifts enable Lutheran World Relief to respond quickly as needs evolve and direct assistance where it is needed most. To support emergency flood relief efforts in Texas, donate today at lwr.org/texasfloods.
As floodwaters continue to rise, humanitarian needs are expected to include emergency shelter, safe drinking water, food assistance, medical care, cleanup supplies and support for families displaced by the flooding.
Working alongside trusted church and community partners, Lutheran World Relief will provide emergency assistance and accompany communities through both the immediate response and the long road to recovery. As part of its commitment to rapid disaster response, Lutheran World Relief keeps Quilts and Care Kits ready for distribution in communities across the United States, including San Antonio and Corpus Christi, Texas. These supplies are ready to be distributed through local partners to families affected by the flooding, providing comfort and essential support when it is needed most. The organization responds to disasters in the United States and around the world, helping families recover with dignity, compassion and hope.
Last summer, Lutheran World Relief and its partners reached communities in Central Texas within 12 hours of catastrophic flooding, delivering emergency supplies, including thousands of LWR Quilts and Personal Care Kits. Working through local church partners, Lutheran World Relief also equipped shelters with essential supplies, provided direct financial assistance to families recovering from the disaster, and supported pastors and congregational leaders as they cared for their communities.
With another flood emergency unfolding, Lutheran World Relief is once again preparing to stand alongside Texas families in their time of greatest need. The organization brings decades of experience responding to disasters in the United States and around the world, delivering emergency assistance, supporting long-term recovery and helping communities build resilience for the future.
