Weeks later, the one-two punch of Hurricanes Helene and Milton devastated the Southeast. Thanks to your monthly generosity, we were able to turn this first response into a new program in US disaster relief — and your compassion has since reached from coast to coast.

Fred McCray, Jr. 
Senior director for humanitarian assistance 

Frederick McCray, Jr. is a humanitarian leader with more than two decades of experience designing, leading, and scaling complex humanitarian and development programs across Africa, Asia, and fragile contexts worldwide. At Lutheran World Relief, he provides strategic and operational leadership for emergency response programming, grants management, and organizational readiness across multiple regions. He holds an International Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance from Fordham University, a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from the University of Maryland Global Campus, and a Certificate in Financial Management from Cornell University.
