Crisis Watch: Children and families caught in the crossfire!

Listen to this story

Sometimes the onslaught of disasters and emergencies on the news can feel hopeless and overwhelming for a caring friend like you, who always wants the best for your neighbors near and far.

But the heartbreaking reality is that we are responding to more emergencies now than ever before. Disasters are striking one after another, leaving families with nothing. The need is now outpacing available resources.

GIVE NOW

That’s why your urgent gift today is so critical. When you share your love, concern and blessings today, you are rushing emergency food, shelter and supplies. You’re helping your neighbors see they aren’t alone and putting your faith into immediate action as soon as disaster strikes.

When you reach out your hand to comfort your neighbors who are reeling from tragedy, you are acting as Jesus’ hands and feet on Earth.

In every part of the world, children and families are suffering...

In the Middle East, violence has skyrocketed, leaving children and their families caught in the dangerous crossfire. Thanks to the love and support of neighbors like you, we have rushed nourishing food, clean drinking water and essential supplies, like generator fuel to support emergency shelters, to the front lines. As this precarious situation develops, the needs of God’s children will increase — making your generous gift today more critical than ever.

In the United States, catastrophic flash flooding devastated Texas Hill Country on July 4, 2025. Heavy rains cause the Guadalupe River to rise 25-50 feet in less than an hour, dumping the equivalent of water that goes through Niagara Falls in two days on to communities. Over 130 people were killed, including 27 from a girls’ summer camp. You responded immediately, helping us respond within 12 hours of the tragedy. Months later, the community is still shaken.

In Indonesia, deadly mudslides and severe flooding killed thousands of God’s children and left millions of your neighbors homeless last November. Thankfully, gifts from worried and caring friends like you were rushed to the front lines, and we were able to utilize our over 20 years of experience working with neighbors in Indonesia to deliver urgently needed health care and essential supplies to the hardest hit communities. Your love and support are still desperately needed to help families rebuild after seeing their homes and all they’ve worked for wash away entirely.

HELP NEIGHBORS IN CRISIS

Lutheran World Relief team member Niki Clark observed, “You can feel the tragedy, and the sadness and the grief.” Your love remains there with them as they try desperately to rebuild. The headlines have faded ... but your support remains.

By making an emergency gift today, your love and generosity will be rushed to the front lines to do a world of good for your neighbors in need — wherever they are, whenever disaster strikes.

Your generous and lifesaving gift will ease the devastating burdens of your global neighbors, like those in Indonesia, America, the Middle East and the Democratic Republic of Congo, rushing:

  • Emergency food
  • Safe shelter
  • Clean water
  • Critically needed medical supplies
  • Transportation

… and much more as soon as emergency strikes

Because of your loyalty to your neighbors in need, Lutheran World Relief will remain on the ground to help families rebuild and to restore hope — long after the headlines fade and other organizations have left. And your gifts will help ensure they are better prepared for the next disaster — rising above the floods and destruction.

Without your love, your neighbors who lost everything will continue to suffer. So, please give generously to our Emergency Response Campaign so we can share your love and save the lives of God’s children immediately. Thank you for your incredible kindness.
