The devastating floods and mudslides caused by deadly storms have brought immense loss and hardship to our neighbors in Indonesia and surrounding countries. Our hearts and prayers are with every family affected by this disaster.
In Indonesia’s Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra districts, the situation remains urgent. Severe flooding has displaced more than 1.1 million people, destroyed homes and infrastructure, and cut communities off from vital services.
Because of your faithful support, Lutheran World Relief is already there, having worked in communities since the tragic 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
Our emergency response and country teams are preparing a response, which will likely include:
- Lifesaving health care, including maternal and child health, and mobile health clinics to deliver urgent medical relief to extend outreach
- Prevention from disease outbreaks for the most vulnerable families
- Distribution of essential items for families who have lost everything
As the situation evolves and we know more, it's possible that we will also respond with:
- Emergency food assistance
- Psychosocial support
- Clean water, sanitation and hygiene services
We are deeply grateful for your compassion. Please join us in keeping our neighbors in Indonesia and all those affected in your prayers. Thank you for standing with our neighbors around the world whenever there is crisis.
Until your love reaches
every neighbor.
