Wildfires in California are devastating communities, leaving families in urgent need of help.  Homes, schools, businesses and churches have been destroyed, with entire neighborhoods reduced to ashes.

You can provide hope and relief to neighbors in crisis who need it.

Yes, Lutheran World Relief is now working in the U.S. Starting in 2024, Lutheran World Relief expanded to reach neighbors in the U.S. by responding to emergencies and delivering Quilts and Kits. This expansion is happening in partnership with humanitarian and social services organizations operating in the U.S. Thanks to compassionate and generous people like you, we most recently responded to families affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton.  

Should we send quilts and kits to local partners instead of LWR? 

LWR coordinates with multiple organizations responding at the local level when communities in the U.S. are affected by disasters like hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and wildfires. This coordination is critical to ensure quilts and kits are delivered where resources are most needed and to avoid local organizations from becoming overwhelmed with inventory. If you would like to ship quilts and kits directly to a local organization, please confirm that the organization is equipped to accept the donation. And please continue to ship quilts and kits to LWR as you always have to ensure we are able to respond to demand for resources.
