Uganda
Acii Paulina was just a child when South Sudan's first civil war broke out, and she has lived under the dark shadow of war ever since. Today she lives with her grandson — the only relative she has left — in a crowded refugee camp in Uganda. Thrivent Choice Dollars® help refugees like Paulina to receive emergency food, gardening tools, seeds and other basics to support their health and survival.
El Salvador
Maria lives in a tiny fishing village near the coast. Due to a three-year drought, her parents have struggled to grow enough food to feed her and her siblings. When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Maria's remote village became completely cut off from the outside world — they cannot buy, sell, trade or even beg to get what they need. Supplies are running extremely low in Maria's forgotten village, and Thrivent Choice Dollars® are helping to fill the gaps until they can get back on their feet.
Lebanon
Beirut is still reeling from the massive 2020 explosion, which killed hundreds of people and left hundreds of thousands homeless — and vulnerable to COVID-19. Some families that were already struggling to make ends meet in Lebanon's economic crisis suddenly lost what little they had left. Thrivent Choice Dollars® are helping families like Rajaa Shehab's repair their homes and businesses, replace lost essentials and more so they can rebuild their lives.
