If you are a member of Thrivent, you may know about an awesome benefit available to you: Thrivent Action Teams. Any Thrivent Member can form a Thrivent Action Team to plan a service project or educational opportunity – including assembling LWR Kits for Project Promise!
Projects should be completed within 90 days.
How often are you eligible?
All Thrivent members are eligible to lead a Thrivent Action Team. However, the number of teams each member can lead per year depends on your membership type.
Benefits members are eligible to lead two Thrivent Action Teams per calendar year, and associate members are eligible to lead one per calendar year (maximum of three).

Here are a few tips for getting the most out of your Thrivent Action Team resources.
Utilize Thrivent Action Team Materials
Once your project is approved, Thrivent provides you several great options to promote your event, including:
- Promotional banner to hang over a table or on a wall
- Invitations and thank-you cards for attendees
- Thrivent Action Team t-shirts
- A $250 Community Impact Card you can use as seed money to purchase project supplies and/or create promotional materials for hosting your event.
Utilizing the dollars for kit materials you’ll be able to produce the follow number of kits:
- Personal Care Kits: $9/each (27 Kits)
- School Kits: $15 (16 Kits)
- Baby Care Kits: $44 (5 Kits)
- Fabric Kits: $11 (22 Kits)
Build Your Team
- Create a custom invitation
- Mail your printed invitations
Then get out there and promote!
- Use social media to spread the word about your event.
- Use the approved news release event announcement.
All Donations Welcome!
When assembling LWR Kits, you’ll need to ask for donations for the items in the kits (see below for links to Kit item lists).
Some of your friends or family or even those in your community and congregation may prefer to give cash as opposed to going to the store. That’s fine! Cash donations are especially helpful because they allow you to purchase additional Kit items if you’ve received too much of one thing and not enough of another.
Think Outside Your Own Backyard
Just as someone in your congregation or community can give cash instead of a Kit item, so can your family members and friends from other states. Be sure to let them know about your Thrivent Action Team and give them a way they can support you – like giving a monetary gift to help purchase any needed items to make your project a success.
Keep an eye on hidden costs
Your Thrivent seed money is meant to offset the cost of hosting your event. Here are a few costs you may not expect, and how to lower or eliminate them!
- Feeding the team! Food and fellowship make any service project or event fun – especially LWR Kit assemblies! Ask team members to bring a dish to the event to share and make it a pot luck!
- Containers or boxes to hold assembled Kits.
- Transporting completed Kits to an LWR warehouse. Your donations will eventually end up at one of LWR’s two warehouses – in New Windsor, MD or St. Paul, MN. Many regions host LWR Ingatherings where many people and congregations come together to collectively ship their donations. Find an Ingathering near you.
