Quilts and Care Kits Reach Families in Georgia

In 2018 alone, more than 47,500 LWR Mission Quilts, Personal Care Kits, School Kits and Baby Care Kits reached families in the country of Georgia.

Families here struggle with high levels of unemployment and have endured periods of violent conflict since the country established independence from the Soviet Union in 1991.

Your gifts are welcomed comfort to families living in poverty, including those who have had to flee from their homes and reestablish their lives elsewhere in the country due to past conflict between Georgia and Russia.

Our partner, the Union of Investments in Humanitarian Projects — knowns as UHIP — distributes the quilts and kits in Georgia. They deliver these valuable gifts through soup kitchens, elderly care centers and schools that serve children with special needs.

Irakli Saralidze, program manager at UHIP, shared that “Commodities like quilts can be hard to find locally, and all of these people are very poor, so this support really helps them save money to cover their immediate needs.”

And knowing every quilt is handmade by caring people thousands of miles away in the U.S. makes the gift even more meaningful.

“We are so grateful [for your] collaboration that allows us to reach vulnerable people in Georgia,” says Irakli. Thank you for your gifts and love that make this ministry possible!
