STAND WITH AFRICA
A Campaign of Hope

Stand With Africa is an ongoing campaign of Lutheran World Relief, the ELCA World Hunger Program and LCMS World Relief. The campaign supports African churches and communities as they withstand HIV/AIDS, banish hunger and build peace. 

Currently in year three of the campaign, Stand With Africa is focusing on building peace and conflict resolution. Read more about each year's campaign focus below:

WITHSTANDING AIDS (Year One)

The first year of the campaign focuses on the HIV/AIDS crisis in Africa. Stand with Africa supports programs such as HIV prevention education, training HIV educators and working with AIDS orphans and widows so they can take care of themselves. BANISHING HUNGER (Year Two)

Working with people to help them grow enough food to eat is the priority of the second year Stand With Africa campaign. In addition to ongoing HIV/AIDS projects supported during Stand With Africa's first year, we support local agricultural projects that assure good nutrition and produce enough surplus crops to sell. BUILDING PEACE (Year Three)

Many countries of Eastern and Southern Africa have been engaged in or have experienced repercussions from war or major civil violence since the mid-1970s. In the third phase, Stand With Africa will support local projects of conflict resolution and peace building while continuing its work on HIV/AIDS and hunger projects.
