Senior Director for Asia and the Middle East
Mr. Krishna Sob brings with him over 30 years of experience in international relief and development—including work in complex humanitarian emergencies. He is joined LWR from International Medical Corps (IMC) where he has been serving as Country Director in Afghanistan, overseeing over 700 staff and a $12-15 million annual program in health, livelihoods, WASH, DRR, shelter, and sustainable community development, funded by multiple donors.
Krishna’s prior experience includes working as Director for Operations, Grants & Contracts for ICMA; Program Director for AED for the FATA Livelihood Development Program in Pakistan (a $150 million USAID initiative to create job opportunities for youth, and to develop and support local businesses); Project Director/Agreement Officer for World Learning, supporting a USAID-funded $80 million Leader with Associate (LWA) award on health, implemented in 23 countries; Senior Program Officer with Mercy Corps; Chief of Party/Country Representative for Mercy Corps in Azerbaijan under a $45 million cooperative agreement to support economic development and health care; Program Operations and Regional Finance & Operations Manager positions with Save the Children in the Caucasus; and Deputy Country Director/Program Director for Save the Children in Nepal.
Krishna has worked on programs in countries ranging from Nepal, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Afghanistan to Peru, Uganda, Ethiopia, Egypt and Indonesia. He has experience working with multiple donor agencies and supporting new business development. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Patan College in Kathmandu, and an M.A. in Political Science from Tribhuwan University, also in Kathmandu. He speaks fluent Nepali, Hindi, Urdu, and English, and is also conversant in Russian.
