Coffee production is one of the main crops that is produced in Colombia. However, coffee farmers have encountered low profitability of coffee systems, which is mainly explained by three factors:
- The high dependence on imported and chemical materials for coffee production/harvest which are costly for coffee growing families.
- The little bargaining power of families when defining the price of its product, which is set by stock market prices and not by the quality of the coffee cup.
- Limited knowledge or accessibility to post-harvest systems and best practices that, as a result, affect coffee quality.
Goal: Coffee farmers produce a higher return on their harvests
Outcome 1: Strengthening market and farmer linkages
Outcome 2: Strengthening and reproduction of agro-ecological coffee models
Outcome 3: Improving harvest and post-harvest processes.
