On November 8, 2013, Super Typhoon Haiyan roared over the Philippines’ central islands, known as the Visayas, leaving more than 1 million houses damaged or destroyed and more than 4 million people in need shelter and other essential services.

Lutheran World Relief (LWR) responded in Leyte Province with several projects, including shelter repair, cash-for-work, and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).

LWR’s WASH project aimed to improve community and household sanitation and hygiene in typhoon-affected barangays in Ormoc City, Lao and Naungan.
