Situation Reports: Hurricane Matthew #11

Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti on October 4 as a powerful Category 4 storm triggering flash floods, landslides and mudflows endangering lives and leading to extensive property damage. The departments of Grand’Anse, Sud, Nippes and Sud-Est were heavily impacted by the storm while the Ouest and Nord-Ouest departments were also affected. Emergency shelter, food and water are a high priority, and disease outbreak remains a major concern as 3,700 cases of cholera have already been reported and the numbers may continue to rise.
