Hunger and Food Security

Every year, hunger kills more people than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. But it doesn’t have to.

Hunger is preventable. However, when governments drastically cut agricultural development assistance, fail to effectively coordinate emergency food aid, or sit by as farmland is snatched from women and indigenous communities, they perpetuate a cycle of poverty and hunger.

LWR works with small-scale farmers around the world to get them the resources and training they need to produce and sell more food. But unless government policies work for, rather than against, those efforts, communities will not be able to achieve food security.

Join with LWR in holding policymakers accountable and advocating for programs that:

  • Help poor communities break out of the cycle of hunger and poverty to achieve food security
  • ensure affordable and available food for people in even the world's poorest regions
  • better allocate the distribution of food surpluses and food aid during crises

Together, we can end hunger.
