Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is the kind of place that rarely makes the evening news. Yet this small West African nation, where 81 percent of the population lives on less than $2 a day, is the kind of place where LWR’s support makes a big difference.

For Madi, a father and husband, the work LWR has done with his growers association has meant newfound pride, satisfaction and a quintupled seed crop. For the first time in more than two decades, he has been able to stay with his family year round rather than leaving them for work in Côte d’Ivoire. And he can finally afford to send his kids to school. For his family, that is really big news.

When Burkinabé women, of whom only 10% can read and write, learn to process and sell enriched flour to make a good profit and nourish their children — that is big news, too.

LWR will continue to work alongside our local partners in Burkina Faso on agricultural projects that will mean more good news for the country.

Your donations help LWR make a difference in Burkina Faso.

  • Introducing sustainable agricultural practices to ensure a stable, ample and affordable supply of food
  • Teaching skills for micro-enterprise endeavors such as shea butter processing, enriched flour processing and milk production and processing
  • Making credit available to small farmers and micro-enterprise entrepreneurs
