Each spring the sixth grade Sunday school class at Messiah Lutheran Church, in Auburn, Wa., plans the annual spring Mission Sunday. This year they decided to go out with a splash by carrying out a fundraising campaign for Lutheran World Relief water programs! By involving all parts of the congregation, these motivated youth managed to pull off one of the most successful Mission Sundays in the church's history!
LWR strives to give a "hand up, not a hand out" to our brothers and sisters in need. But in situations like the current Sahel drought, do you respond with your heart by giving immediate access to food, or with your head by taking a longer-term approach? LWR's Tim McCully weighs in on the matter in an LWR contribution to a blog series about the Sahel in the Huffington Post.
Water Tip: You should drink at least 64 oz. of water a day to stay properly hydrated for all your summer adventures.
Water Gift: By giving the LWR Gift of an Emergency or Gravity-Fed Water Filter, you can share God's gift of clean water and help a person in need stay healthy too.
Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings — whatever your summer occasion, celebrate with an LWR Gift! Your loved one gets a unique gift and a person in need gets the chance to change her life for the better.
