LWR encourages special prayer on World Malaria Day, April 25

In observation of World Malaria Day, Thursday, April 25, Lutheran World Relief (LWR), through the Lutheran Malaria Initiative, is encouraging Lutherans to remember those suffering from malaria by praying a special prayer.

Zoraida Castillo, Lutheran World Relief´s country director for Colombia, will speak at the April 3, 2013 conference “Land and the Colombian Peace Agenda,” to be held at the United States Institute for Peace in Washington, D.C. The conference aims to provide fresh analysis of the debates surrounding agrarian development in Colombia and educate U.S. policymakers and the public about Colombia’s current peace process and the nation’s Victims’ and Land Restitution Law.

Lutheran World Relief Expands Work with Cocoa Farmers in Central America

Lutheran World Relief (LWR), through a $247,500 grant from the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs (OES), is implementing “Pathways to Prosperity in the Cocoa Value Chain” in El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras. LWR will directly implement the 18-month project, working with six cocoa producer organizations and three women's groups throughout the three countries.
