Caravan of Hope for IDPs in Maguindanao and North Cotabato

LWR will serve over 2,600 families (roughly 13,000 people) in Mamasapano municipality, as assessments indicate that area has the greatest needs from the impact of the conflict. They are currently working in 8 evacuation centers.

Background

LWR’s response seeks to meet the emergency needs of the conflict-affected and displaced population in Mindanao through the provision and distribution of essential emergency relief to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Specific activities include distribution of Non-Food Items (solar lamps, household kits, school kits) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene activities (hygiene kits/personal care kits, jerry cans, water filtration units).

Objectives

Contribute in promoting dignity and humane living conditions of IDPs

  • Identify targeted IDPs in the target evacuation centers
  • Facilitate purchase, repacking, inventory, hauling and transport of goods from warehouse in Polomolok to targeted evacuation centers
  • Meet the immediate needs of target IDPs in Maguindanao and North Cotabato through the distribution of Food and Non-food items
  • IDPs in target evacuation centers have increased access to potable water
