15,000 families benefit from clothing,
quilts, school kits, health kits, layettes
and soap
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Leone was LWR's partner in the distribution of more than 290,000 pounds of material resources in 2002.Three Lutheran parishes sent their letters of thanks for the generosity of U.S. Lutherans:"On behalf of the King of Kings congregation, I wish to express our gratitude to our brothers and sisters in the USA for their kind gesture of sending us relief items which we very much appreciated," wrote Samuel M. Kanu, diakonal coordinator of the Freetown parish.
The Rev. E.H. Lavally, pastor from King of Glory Lutheran Church in Freetown, wrote:"Greetings in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. On behalf of the church council, the congregation and community, I wish to express my hearty thanks and appreciation to you for the non-food relief items.
These items were distributed to the members of the congregation and selected members of the community.
Once more, I say thank you and LWR for these gifts."
Amed Kaimapoh, evangelist at Calvary Lutheran Church in Freetown, wrote:
"On behalf of the congregations and community, we thank the Lord Almighty and our Christian brothers and sisters who donated these items for which we have been in need of. We pray that God will continue to bless them in all their undertakings."
