Hurricane Matthew is a category 4 storm having a major impact on the Caribbean. The storm is bringing strong winds, heavy rain and storm surges, with the brunt of the storm arriving in Jamaica and Haiti on Monday, October 3. These conditions are expected to trigger flash floods, landslides and mudflows, endangering lives and leading to extensive property damage. As of October 4, the storm is still impacting Haiti and Cuba and slowing moving towards the Bahamas. Initial assessments are impossible until the storm subsides in the coming days.
