GAZA CRISIS
Emergency Alert Updated - October 21, 2009

You can help
our local partners
provide needed assistance.

Background:

In late December 2008, fighting broke out between Israel and Hamas in the Palestinian territory of Gaza.

The fighting took a heavy toll on the civilian population of Gaza - hundreds were killed while homes, water supply systems and hospitals and were damaged.

.

LWR AND PARTNERS ARE HELPING

LWR is responding through the Action by Churches Together (ACT) alliance to support ongoing assistance to civilians affected by the fighting and reconstruction of healthcare infrastructure. Assistance includes:

  • Food supplements
  • Medicine, medical supplies and equipment
  • Cash-for-food and cash-for-work programs
  • Psychosocial assistance.
In addition, LWR is working with its partners International Orthodox Christian Charities and International Relief and Development to provide quilts, layettes, school kits and health kits to more than 20,000 people affected by the conflict.
YOU CAN HELP

The best way to assist people caught in an emergency is to give cash so that our partner staff on the ground can be most effective.

To contribute online, click below. You will be given the opportunity to choose “Mid-East Crisis” for your contribution.

Your gift will be used to respond to the “Mid-East Crisis” until needs there are met. After that, further gifts will be used to help LWR respond where the need is greatest. Please also consider making an unrestricted donation which will enable LWR to respond quickly to the next emergency.
