CENTRAL AMERICA DISASTERS
Emergency Alert - November 11, 2009

You can help
our local partners
provide needed assistance.

Background:

On November 8, heavy rains caused massive flooding and destruction in El Salvador. According to government reports, the flooding caused 108 landslides, destroyed 209 houses, damaged 1,835 houses, and affected 18 bridges. According to most recent reports, the floods claimed 140 lives with many more people still missing. The president of El Salvador has declared a state of national emergency amid concerns about the country’s agricultural production, the number of displaced people and the spread of disease.
