A Single Quilt of Destiny

This is a travel blog, so yesterday a traveler from the state of Georgia visited me at LWR HQ, here in Baltimore. Jonathan T. M. Reckford, the president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity stopped by briefly between his meetings and a press conference. He’s a deeply committed and deep-thinking leader convinced that humankind shares, in MLK’s words, “a single garment of destiny.” Around here, we might substitute “garment” for “quilt” (smile).
Like LWR, Habitat is convinced that the way and the wave of the future will be in forging partnerships to reduce poverty among the world’s most marginalized communities. We embrace opportunities to partner with organizations like Habitat and Thrivent Financial to galvanize our resources in knitting one global household filled with justice, dignity and peace.

I am excited and enthusiastic about how LWR partners with organizations that are doing good things in the world. The LWR-Thrivent Builds Study Tour in partnership with Habitat for Humanity gives LWR supporters the opportunity to see the good work of LWR in India and participate in a building project through Habitat. I cannot imagine a more rewarding experience! I look forward to seeing the exciting and innovative parternships that LWR forges going forward to add many beautiful squares to our "quilt of destiny."
