LUTHERAN WORLD RELIEF ADVOCACY EFFORTS
Lutheran World Relief has long spoken out for justice. We are called by God to speak out for our brothers and sisters in need, from Colombia to Kenya and beyond. LWR seeks to be faithful to the Word of God by working with poor and powerless communities to challenge not only the consequences, but also the causes, of poverty and oppression.
Advocacy is a faith commitment to be part of God's plan for a just world - a world where each person's dignity and worth is valued. A world where everyone has a say in decisions that affect their lives.
Advocacy is about creating a world, according to landmine survivor Song Kosal, "where every child has a chance to wear two shoes." Advocacy is the knowledge that we can help stop the spread of AIDS in Africa by committing more U.S. funds to prevention and treatment programs. It is the belief that peace in Colombia can happen if we work for justice.

Promote peace by sending a beautiful post card
to your members of Congress.
Call the LWR resource center at 1.800.LWR.LWR.2 to order postcards.
Post cards can be distributed at events, to your congregation or among family and community members. Each post card contains specific policy recommendations to help the U.S. Congress better promote peace in Colombia, Uganda and Sudan.
The more postcards sent, the stronger our message for peace!

We invite you to join us in these efforts!
Your prayers and active involvement are crucial to making change happen. Advocacy without participation is merely awareness - change can only happen when people passionate about correcting injustice commit themselves to doing something about it.
