ECO-PALMS
Make social and environmental justice part of your congregation's Palm Sunday celebration

The next day the great crowd that had come for the Feast heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the King of Israel!" (John 12: 12-13)

Jesus' entrance into Jerusalem was accented by the jubilant waving of palm branches and is re-enacted each Palm Sunday in Christian congregations worldwide as our observance of Holy Week begins.

Unfortunately, for the communities where these palms are harvested, palm fronds do not always represent the same jubilation they do for us.

We are no longer taking orders for Palm Sunday 2010

Orders will be shipped March 17-24, and you will receive your palms between March 22 and March 26. You will also receive a confirmation email with tracking information at the email address you provided with your order. If you do not receive this email by March 26, please contact the Eco-Palm staff at info@ecopalms.org or 612-624-7418.

When your palms arrive, please open the box and make sure they are in good condition. You should either store them in a cool location like a refrigerator or trim the stems by a couple inches and put them in water until Palm Sunday.  It is imperative the box be opened immediately and the palms opened up to prevent mold in a warm, moist environment.

Ordering for Palm Sunday 2011 will begin in January 2011.

If your congregation would like to continue to be involved in social, economic, and environmental justice, join our Fair Trade program! Visit lwr.org/fairtrade for more information about Lutheran World Relief’s Fair Trade chocolate, handcrafts, and coffee.
